Our American Legion Post 911 Family is committed to Serving the Next Generation of Heroes with medical, social, vocational, and educational support.
Upon returning home from combat tours, we found a void existed in the world's largest veteran's service organization -The American Legion. There was not a single nationally chartered post dedicated to Veterans of Operation Enduring Freedom or Operation Iraqi Freedom. OEF and OIF encompass Military Operations not only in Afghanistan and Iraq respectively, but as well as sixty-three other countries to include, but not limited to, Africa and the Philippines.
The Founders of American Legion Post 911 are building this Post in order to fill the void that American's Service Members are currently falling into. While there are many veteran organizations currently being founded,
Post 911 is the first of its kind within the American Legion that is dedicated to this new era of GWOT soldiers serving in Afghanistan, Iraq, and other countries.
The values upheld by the American Legion are consistent with values held, and defended, by the Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Marines serving today. American Legion Post 911 is dedicated to acknowledging the selfless service, sacrifice, and bravery of American Heroes answering the call of our generation. We are assisting these honored veterans in their return home by providing a conduit for social and economic benefits; and giving true meaning to their continued success by encouraging the same selfless service in our community at home they have already demonstrated to the country while serving. American Legion Post 911 adamantly refrains from judgment based on race, religion, creed or sex. We are strongly apolitical and non-denominational.
Now that we have returned home from these wars, it is our new mission to continue to serve our nation, communities, and fellow brothers and sisters in arms--as America's next Generation of Heroes.
